Submissions Close November 15, 2024

Palm Springs, CA (August 15, 2024)—The Palm Springs International Piano Competition (PSIPC) is now accepting submissions for the 2025 Palm Springs International Piano Competition (Junior Division), which will be held from April 11 – April 21, 2025 in Palm Springs and Palm Desert, CA. Submissions must be made through its online form which can be found here, and all entries must be received by November 15, 2024.  Pianists must be 13 at time of submission and no older than 17 on April 21. The PSIPC is open to pianists of any nationality. More than $30,000 dollars will be awarded to the top four competitors. Semi-finalists who do not progress to the Finals will receive $500. “The success of our past PSIPC laureates has been simply astounding and we invite all young pianists to apply to our 2025 Junior Division,” said Robert Koenig, Artistic Director, PSIPC. “The PSIPC has served as a high-profile launching pad for the careers of so many talented young artists, including such past winners as internationally renowned concert pianists Jon Nakamatsu, John Novacek, Jan Lisiecki, George Li, Anton Nel, and our most recent winner in 2022, Jonathan Mamora.”

Twenty-five quarter finalists, chosen from the online submissions, will compete in four in-person rounds in Palm Springs and Palm Desert, CA. The first three rounds are held at Temple Isaiah in Palm Springs from April 11-19. These rounds are free and open to the public. The final round, with orchestra, will take place on April 21, at McCallum Theatre, in Palm Desert. The Final round concert is a ticketed event and will be livestreamed across multiple digital platforms.

Four cash prizes will be awarded. First prize winner will receive $10,000; second $5,000; third $2,500; and fourth prize $1,000. The first prize winner will also receive a recording with Yamaha Artist Services New York and important recital and concerto performances during the 2025-2027 seasons. All Semi-finalists, who do not progress to the Finals, will receive $500. Additional prizes and awards will be announced at a later date.

The esteemed panel of judges for the preliminary screening round will be Esther Park (Columbus State University), Scott Cuellar (Syracuse University) and Terrence Wilson (Bard College and Conservatory of Music). The judges for the live in-person competition rounds will be announced at a later date.

The PSIPC has launched the careers of several aspiring young pianists. Since its founding in 1978 the PSIPC has hosted hundreds of pianists in competition, representing nearly 25 countries and showcasing the wide reach of the institution.
