ANNOUNCES SOLO ROUND I COMPETITIORS FOR 2025 JUNIOR COMPETITION
25 Competitors Chosen from More than 80 Applicants Representing Eight Countries Come to Palm Springs to Compete for More than $30,000 in Cash Prizes
2025 PSIPC (Junior Division) Takes Place from April 11-21, 2025
Palm Springs, CA—Palm Springs International Piano Competition (PSIPC) is pleased to announce that 25 young pianists have been selected to advance to the in-person Solo Round I of the 2025 PSIPC (Junior Division). The 25 Competitors that will advance to the Solo Round 1 of the 2025 PSIPC (Junior Division) were selected from nearly 80 applicants from 10 countries. One Alternate was also selected. The 25 Competitors and one Alternate range in ages 12-17* and represent eight countries—Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Ukraine and the United States.

*The current ages listed are those of the Competitors and the Alternate at the time of this announcement, January 17, 2025. As per PSIPC rules and regulations, all Competitors will be between the ages of 13 by 12 a.m. on April 11, 2025 and 18 by the completion of the Competition on April 21, 2025.
The PSIPC 2025 (Junior Division) Alternate that has been chosen from the Preliminary Round will advance to PSIPC Solo Round 1 should any PSIPC Competitor forfeit their participation in the Competition by March 7, 2025.
Solo Round I is the first of four in-person rounds. The first three in-person rounds will be held at Temple Isaiah from April 13-19, 2025 in Palm Springs. The Final Round will take place at the McCallum Theater on April 21, 2025 in Palm Desert. The Four Finalists who advance to the Final Round will each perform a pre-selected concerto with the PSIPC Festival Orchestra under the direction of conductor, Peter Wilson. Prizes
The four PSIPC 2025 (Junior Division) Finalists will compete for more than $30,000 in cash prizes. Four cash prizes will be awarded: Gold Medal winner will receive $10,000; Silver Medal $5,000; Bronze Medal $2,500; and Medal of Honor $1,000. The Gold Medal winner will also receive a recording with Yamaha Artist Services New York and important recital and concerto performances during the 2025-2027 seasons. All Semi-finalists, who do not progress to the Finals, will receive $500.
Jury
The in-person rounds of the PSIPC 2025 (Junior Division) will be adjudicated by some of today’s leaders in the industry. The esteemed panel, chaired by Anton Nel (Professor of Piano and Chamber Music Division Head, Keyboard Studies, University of Texas Austin), is: Bonnie Barrett (Director, Yamaha Artist Services New York), Bernadene Blaha (Professor of Practice, University of Southern California), Kevin Kwan Loucks (Chief Executive Officer, Chamber Music America), and Lisa Nakamichi (Founding Artistic Director, Aloha International Piano Festival).
The cash awards for the four Medalists for the 2025 PSIPC (Junior Division) are made possible through the generosity of the Peggy and Don Cravens Education Funds for student awards, scholarships, and education activities.
Yamaha is the official piano of the 2025 Palm Springs International Piano Competition (Junior Division).

Four competitors who have advanced to the Finals of the Palm Springs International Piano Competition (Junior Division) will perform a concerto from a pre-determined list of works by Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn or Schumann. More than $30,000 will be awarded across all four finalists. The Gold Medal winner will receive $10,000, a recording with Yamaha Artist Services New York, and important recital and concerto performances during the 2025-2027 seasons.
