In describing Virtuoso Voyage, the annual benefit of the Palm Springs International Piano Competition (PSIPC) held Jan. 27 at The Club at Morningside in Rancho Mirage, three adjectives come to mind: beautifully timed, elegant and most of all, cordial.
The warmth and festive spirit were felt the moment one stepped into Morningside’s vast lobby, where the cocktail reception was held. It continued throughout the evening as the 160 guests (a sold-out crowd) migrated to the semi-circular dining room with its panoramic mountain views in all directions, for dinner and the evening’s highlight: a concert by the 17-year-old virtuoso Nathaniel Zhang, who won the 2017 Junior Competition at the tender age of 12.
