PSIPC is more than just a piano competition! Our education initiatives are an important part of our mission to provide local community educational outreach and diverse musical cultural experiences. We believe that developing the next generation of musicians and music lovers is crucial to the work we do. Further, music education has countless benefits for young students, and our organization prides itself on making an impactful contribution to the lives of area students.
Our music education classes are currently in session at Oliphant Elementary School, where more than 20 students are experiencing an introduction to piano, rhythm and note reading. We also have in session a community class at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Palm Desert, generously sponsored by the Coeta & Donald Barker Foundation and supported through our partnership with parish. Students are lively and engaged, eager to learn the sort of musicianship and music appreciation that will nurture the artform for generations to come.
